Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 August 2026
ThumbLens is a free Chrome extension that previews video thumbnails inside a simulated feed. This policy is short because the extension collects nothing.
The extension sends nothing, anywhere
ThumbLens has no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no tracking pixels and no third-party scripts. While you use it, it makes no network requests at all — everything it renders comes from files bundled inside the extension. The single exception is described under "What we can see": when you uninstall, Chrome opens a feedback page on this site.
What stays on your device
- Thumbnail images you choose or drop in
- Video titles you type
- Your saved previews, stored as downscaled copies
- Settings such as theme and preview mode
These live in your browser's own storage (IndexedDB and the extension storage area) on the computer you are using. They are never uploaded to us or to anyone else. You can delete all of it at any time with Delete all local data on the extension's options page, and uninstalling ThumbLens removes it too.
Permissions
ThumbLens requests a single Chrome permission, storage, used to keep your
settings on your device. It requests no host permissions, so it cannot read the
pages you visit, your browsing history, or anything you type on other websites.
What we can see
Only what the Chrome Web Store shows every developer: aggregate install, uninstall and rating counts. Google provides those numbers and they do not identify you.
When you uninstall, Chrome opens a short feedback page on this website. The address carries no parameters and no identifier. Like any web page, visiting it means our host records the usual request data (IP address, browser user agent).
Optional onboarding question
On first run ThumbLens asks where you heard about it. Answering is optional and the answer is stored on your device only. It is not transmitted.
Children
ThumbLens is a tool for content creators and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy ever changes in a way that affects what data is handled, the date above will change and the change will be noted in the changelog. If a paid version is ever added, this policy will be updated before it ships.
